An eight-day Underwater Port Security course currently is offered at FKCC. Due to the sensitive nature of some of the material involved, it is available only to public safety and military personnel and/or individuals with designated responsibility for port security. The course is directed primarily toward personnel with previous training and experience in public safety diving. Credentialed divers are evaluated on the first day of the course and rotated into dive operations accordingly. A limited number of non-divers may be accepted into each course, participating fully in all training activities and serving as support personnel during diving operations. 

FUNDING

Funding for these courses customarily is available through Homeland Security monies distributed through federal, state or local agencies and designated for training in general and/or specifically for enhancing port security. For example, in Florida these courses are trust fundable and eligible for local (second dollar) funding for Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) personnel.
